In the poem “Versos íntimos” (1912), Augusto dos Anjos wrote, “the hand that caresses is the same that casts a stone.” In this visual essay, the director Sirin Bahar Demirel delves into her family history by capturing intimate details, reorganizing the photo album, and weaving together her memories of her abusive grandfather and her grandmother, a victim of domestic violence.
