In the Otomi worldview (indigenous people inhabiting central Mexico), corn or the wise seed, fell in the form of drops to fertilize the world. Its agricultural activity marks their ceremonial cycles. They offer these ceremonial tortillas painted with the natural dye of the muicle weed as a gift of gratitude. The stamps are carved in mesquite wood and used with illustrations alluding to nature or the holy cross.

For this community, the grandmothers are the bridge to the sacred. They give their daughters or granddaughters the stamps they once inherited, together with the belief that the stove is a sacred place, and these tortillas that feed body and soul are synonymous with joy.
